Turn right from Eileagan’s driveway and you start on a web of walkways and forest roads which cover much of the Southern part of the Cowal peninsula. A pre breakfast amble will take you round the trout reservoir in Bishops Glen, a twenty minute woodland stroll.
Close to Dunoon and throughout Cowal there are a tremendous variety of walks which are classified by Visit Scotland.
Moderate Walk
Pucks Glen - A magical place filled with gushing waterfalls and enchanting rock pools” about six miles north of the town.
Long Distance Walk
The Cowal Way - Follows a route running the length of Argyll's Cowal peninsula. It starts in the south-west at Portavadie, beside Loch Fyne and finishes in the north-east at Ardgatan by Loch Long and involves walking on roads and on lochside, hill and woodland terrains.
Mountain Walk
Ardnadam Heritage Trail - A steep ascent to a viewpoint high over the town of Dunoon on the hill known as Dunan, which offers stunning views over Dunoon, the Holy Loch, the Firth of Clyde and the surrounding hills.
Additionally the mountains at Arrocher are less than one hour drive from Dunoon.
