The walkways described above from Bishops Glen also provide bicycle access to the forest roads south and west of Dunoon. The road south of the town offers a pleasant, relatively flat cycle through Toward then following the shoreline of Loch Striven, a remote area with a few farms nestling on the lochside hills.
A (much) more strenuous route is through Sandbank and Glenlean (single track road) to Tighnabruaich, a very hilly but spectacular road route of about 50 miles round trip. There is good food and drink to be had at Tighnabruaich.
There are also many forest trails on the hills adjacent to Loch Eck, Loch Goil and Loch Long. The relatively flat Isle of Bute is also ideal for leisurely cycling.
